We don’t know if it’s the way it gleams in the light or the inherent risk of wearing it at all, but glass jewellery makes us gasp in both delight and fear. The fear, however, is momentary once you rationalise that you only intend to eat dinner in your glass earrings. Not ride a bucking bronco surrounded by concrete. Even then, you might be safe if they’re made out of borosilicate glass - a particularly shatterproof kind - like pieces by Annika Inez. There’s also a possibility that the risk itself is somewhat appealing. You know, like donning a dress and going commando on a particularly balmy yet blustery day. Ultimately, glass jewellery is only for the brave.
