What is the BURO. mantra on dressing for work? Personality matters, and although many workplaces these days have an anything goes attitude, this does not make the morning outfit game any easier; because free reign doesn’t actually mean free reign, we all know that. However, park the stereotypes – wearing black doesn’t have to mean you’re too serious (unless you want it to) colour can, in fact, be formal, and yes, you can be comfortable in a shirt.
Take note from Dizzee Rascal – fix up, look smart – but be yourself while doing it. First things first, find a silhouette that you can metaphorically run with; are you a full suit girl, a skirt lover, a trench devotee? Throw out all your old workwear stigmas, find pieces that make you feel powerful and bring you joy.
A suit doesn’t have to be masculine – play with prints. Go tweed with Louis Vuitton or make a statement with Moschino’s line drawings. Should you want to play with androgyny, opt for a Max Mara three-piece wool short suit, optimum for trans-seasonal dressing.
In other words, don’t struggle with getting ready over your morning coffee - get your head in the game and dress like the boss you want to be, because after all, you’re there 80% of the time.
