UGG X TELFAR HAS JUST REMINDED US ABOUT SHEARLING

We'll just have to enjoy it in coat or jacket form until our bag arrives

No contemporary fashion brand causes quite the same frenzy as Telfar. Established by Telfar Clemens in 2005, it now counts titans of both entertainment and politics (such as Dua Lipa and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) as fans – and civilians love it just as much. But – in spite of coronavirus postponing Telfar’s collaboration with GAP – 2020 is where it really shone.

In August, Telfar’s ‘Bag Security Program’ enabled consumers to pre-order however many of their totes they wanted – in whatever size and colour – for 24 hours only. Roughly a month later, Telfar himself was announced as American Accessories Designer of the Year at the CFDA Fashion Awards. And now, there’s a Telfar collaboration with UGG to contend with – just in time for Christmas.

We know! We too thought that UGG collaborations couldn’t get any better than the one done with the similarly excellent Eckhaus Latta, but – with Telfar involved at least – clearly they can. There’s also the fact that UGG x Eckhaus Latta was about shoes, but UGG x Telfar is about bags – so it’s perfectly acceptable for us to indulge in both. And who could resist either a small or medium Telfar shopping bag in chestnut suede with a shearling trim? Not us.

For 24 hours only (like the ‘Bag Security Program’ that came before it), indulging in the latter can be done here at the presale. Once ordered, your bag (or bags) will arrive sometime between March and Juneteenth – finally that phrase ‘good things come to those who wait’ will have some weight to it.

In the meantime, we suggest getting your shearling fix – whether you can afford real or simply feel better about wearing fake – via coats and jackets (which would have been a wise idea for winter even if we hadn’t got swept up in the rapture of UGG x Telfar).
