Though I’m a bit torn, because I also have a sweet tooth for anything that alludes to ‘discounted luxury’. So, here we are, say hello to BURO.’s alternative Black Friday 2019 guide. Instagram account @thesamplesaleteam is your new best friend – the idea is that they shop the sample sale on your behalf if you can't go. Simply register your interest emailing ldnsamplesales@gmail.com or DM. Shoppers are then assigned on a first come first serve basis. Don’t forget to state the name of the sale you want the shoppers to attend on your behalf. And remember, personal shopping slots cannot be booked once the sale has started, so book early to avoid disappointment.

Want to get a hot ticket to ‘invite-only’ sample sales? Arlettie is the Parisian-born company loved by Londoners in the know, where members sign up for ‘access’ to enjoy discounts of up to 80% off brands including Givenchy, The Kooples, Jimmy Choo and many more.

THE DEALS ON DEALS

Bicester Village in Oxfordshire is the mecca of designer discount shopping – with labels such as Céline and Prada with up to 60 per cent off all year round. On top of that, if you join up to the privilege club online, members are offered extra benefits – we like the sound of that – from an extra 20 per cent off and private sales (bonus: it’s free to sign up). Elsewhere, TK Maxx, already the home of excellent bargains, will be hosting a series of flash sales throughout November. And keep tabs on The Outnet, which usually pulls out all the stops for Black Friday weekend, in the past offering up to 80 per cent off brands, from Victoria Beckham to Balenciaga. *Add to cart.

THE DIGITAL POP-UP SALES

Hands up if you’re all about the Scandi-cool, you need to sign up to AcneArchive.com. For those in the know, since 2016 the Stockholm-based brand has been putting on 48 hour online-only flash sales, with Acne Studios items for sale from previous collections up to 75 per cent off. These events often pop up twice or three times a year – and it’s well worth the wait.

THE DISCREET BARGAINS

Liberty London does not officially partake in Black Friday, but savvy shoppers will be aware the luxury department drops a delightful discount in store during Black Friday weekend (sneaky, ey) - last year everything in-store and online was reduced by up to 30 per cent. On our wish-list? An Anissa Kermiche love handles vase.

THE OUTLET MECCA

A hidden gem in East London, Hackney Wall is full of designer’s pieces at a discount price. BURO. loves Matches Fashion, Bally, Burberry and Joseph. Our advice is to have some goals in mind pre-shop – i.e. if you’re heading to somewhere like Burberry, focus in on the items you really want, whether that be a power suit or the perfect winter coat.
