The other day I happened upon, quite possibly, the best procrastination game, on The New Yorker app. It’s called ‘Animate Objects: The Secret Thoughts of Everyday Objects, Presented In Augmented Reality.’
Essentially, you hover your camera over an object and up pops a little story behind it. My coffee mug, for instance, is “mysterious with a hint of bullshit.” It made me smile. Because, well, as seemingly unremarkable as these things are, I’ve become well acquainted with them over the last six months.
So, as perfect timing would have it, Christopher Kane’s More Joy AW20 drop, designed “for a generation redefining sexuality” has arrived. The fashion is, unsurprisingly, brilliant. And sure to sell out quick: from the ‘Sex’ slip dress, ‘More Joy’ beanie (they’re back, baby), to the pyjamas we shall now be living in until further notice.
Though, really, it’s the affirmation-emblazoned accessories (prices start from £10) that we’re eyeing up, that are sure to put a spring in your Working From Home step. Highlights include; vinyl slipmats, a hot water bottle, coasters, ‘Special’ tape, a door mat, face masks, a deliciously cosy blanket and ‘Sex’ wrapping paper.
“The collection is inspired by the everyday objects that we want around our house/ office,” Christopher Kane tells us. “For example, the doormat makes me smile every time I look at it.” Adding: “[I wanted] to tackle everyday life and feel and look good doing it. I want More Joy to stop people in their tracks and find joy in some part of their life.”
To mark the collection – shop our picks below - Kane shares his feel-good formula, from self-pleasure to mood-sparking songs.
Lovely and should give you pleasure.
The Wanderers. I watched it when I was really young and so it will always be poignant for me. Ken Wahl was my first Hollywood crush.
Get to know yourself, ask yourself questions, look in a mirror, figure it out without guilt.
Despite all the uncertainty there have been so many moments, afternoons, and evenings full of joy. It is the simple things like walking Bruce in the countryside, laughing with friends, painting…
Anything by Mahalia Jackson, her voice is transcendental.
