Life can be incredibly strange, but British weather is stranger still. We know that any mention of the weather - never mind that of the relatively mild British variety - tends to be boring at best, but clichés are often clichés because they’re true (apparently), so we’ll forgive ourselves on this occasion. What we’re basically saying is that we find it odd how warm it is all of a sudden - in September no less! It was only weeks ago that we were lamenting the end of a summer that never really was and attempting to extol the virtues of autumn. At the time of writing, the sun is shining and the evening is set to be the type of balmy that calls for a biergarten. Legs are largely bare and sunglasses are probably wise. Air bridges currently count for nothing, since you feel perfectly fine where you are. Life is good.
So with coat season clearly postponed, what should you be wearing? Retrieving your entire summer wardrobe from storage seems silly when you could just extract specific pieces - like sleeveless tops! Sleeker than a t-shirt but less ostentatiously summery than a dress, sleeveless tops are perfect for unexpectedly warm weather. Whether you favour camisoles, tanks, vests or something else entirely, they’ll keep you fresh until the weather cools down again - at which point you can just put on a cardigan, obviously.
