As they are probably the most obnoxiously loud shoes in the world, a lot of us fear clogs. There’s also something peculiar about wearing wood. Sure, it’s as natural as leather, but the former’s agricultural roots make it feel misplaced in any other sort of environment. But, once you get over the fact that you are not actually a Dutch milkmaid, clogs are fun.
In spite of these agricultural roots, clogs as we recognise them tend to be a distinctly 70s shoe. But since we strive for newness wherever possible, their styling shouldn’t be limited to denim flares and prairie dresses - do something different.
It’s true that if you wear clogs, everyone - from your friends to your enemies - will be able to hear you approaching from a significant distance. Don’t let it bother you, you’re about to give the wooden performance of your life.
