Some designers just get it – and Deborah Lyons is one of them. If you’re looking for clothes that combine unashamed femininity and distinctive tailoring – all with an air of effortlessness – look no further. These are pieces that are as easy to wear as they are noticeable, and of course this makes them all the more desirable.
Since the start of her career, Deborah Lyons has been somewhat of a fashion polymath. Before enrolling at Parsons in New York to study Fashion Design, her background had been in Fine Art – a fact that makes perfect sense when you consider the aesthetic precision of her work. After a spout of interning and working, Deborah moved to the Marche region of Italy to learn shoe-making and developed a collection that was later sold in the likes of Harrods and Dover Street Market. Over on the other side of the Atlantic, she simultaneously became the designer of a tailoring brand based in New York, selling the collection to retailers such as Browns amongst others. Eventually, she moved back to London and into design consultancy, but it was a meeting with the buyer and boutique owner Kamelia Kamel that saw the launch of her eponymous brand - and Kamelia’s retail acumen and business experience has been pivotal to its success.
Made exclusively from the finest British and European fabrics available and taking tailoring inspiration from the high standards of Savile Row and beyond, Deborah Lyons strives for her pieces to be similarly timeless – and of the highest quality. In celebration of her AW20 collection, Deborah “wanted to bring together a group of focused, resilient and diverse women” – from the artist Sophie Derrick to the singer Cherise – to front its campaign. We’re honing on the Mabel corset to bring some excitement to our winter wardrobes.
