It's Father’s Day! Well, it’s Father’s Day soon – on the 20th of June, to be precise. What we really mean is that it’s time to start thinking about Father’s Day, and the various ways in which you can shower yours, or whoever it is that's played a fatherly role in your life, with adoration and gifts. But also gratitude. But equally, and more importantly, GIFTS. Dads are notoriously hard to buy for, so we've gathered some luxury gift ideas for the occasion. Whether yours likes fancy food, appropriate vessels for steaming cups of tea or simply telling the time in the traditional way, there's something for every dad here.
Well, we did say luxury gift ideas. For Father’s Day, Hakkasan has partnered with HADID Caviar – which is incidentally Bella and Gigi’s father’s caviar company – to offer a restaurant meal kit to rival all restaurant meal kits. It contains a selection of dim sum, Hakkasan’s signature Peking duck with pancakes, spicy prawns, hakka noodles, stir fried baby broccoli and chocolate and hibiscus soufflé. Your dad won’t want to share it, but you will force him to – come hell or high water!
What on earth do you buy a discerning dad who has an aversion to using his phone to tell the time for Father’s Day? A watch, obviously. And, because it’s unfussy yet fantastic, the Timex x YMC 25th Anniversary Digital Watch is our recommendation.
It’s strange that ‘mug’ is a slur. What’s so damning about such a useful piece of crockery? Still, if you want to buy your father a mug for Father’s Day it’s best to select a marvellous one – or two, as is the case with these by Casa Carta.
Now, this may appear to be a woman’s jacket, but all Riley Studio’s sizing is gender neutral. Their clothes are for everyone, in other words – including your dad. We predict that this will become somewhat of an heirloom.
Is gin a dad drink? Well, now it is. With notes of green olive and rosemary (among other things), Portobello Road’s Savoury Gin is something that you wish to sample immediately. Therefore your father will be receiving it as a gift on Sunday and that’s that.
A thing to put things in! We all need one – even dads! And there is none better than this here by Acne Studios.
Dads need rest too. And rest beneath an A.P.C. quilt is a superior kind of slumber.
Frankly, Father’s Day gifts do not get much more practical than this Carhartt WIP x Peli Emergency Flashlight (or torch, for the vehemently British). If your dad starts orchestrating emergencies just so that he has an excuse to flaunt it, please intervene.
