2021 has been so far good for television fans, not least because there's been ample time to watch it, but also because of confirmed reboots. First the highly-anticipated revival of Sex and the City, and now Friends, which would have hit our screens sooner, had it not been for COVID.

Appearing on Rob Lowe’s Literally! podcast Kudrow revealed that she's already shot some of the scenes for the sequel. The plot you ask? Hold your horses. It’s not a new episode but an unscripted special, in which the actors will catch up and reflect on the show's juggernaut success. “We are not portraying our characters” said the actress, who played Phoebe Buffay for all ten seasons, from 1994 to 2004. “It’s us getting together, which doesn’t happen a lot and has never happened in front of other people since 2004, when we stopped. It’s just us having dinner, you know, but we will see what happens”. While some scenes will take us back to Central Perk, others will be shot in new locations.
Will we see the gang in full? Yes, all actors are confirmed, so Kudrow will be joined by Matthew Perry, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc. And it might just be the most expensive comeback in modern history. According to the Hollywood Reporter every member of the iconic six will be paid between $2.5 million and $3 million for the special.
The untitled revival will air on HBO Max and will be available to stream alongside 10 seasons of the series but the release date is TBC.
