What is it about?

The 10-episode series is based on a real blockbuster story from New York Magazine by Jessika Pressler: “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People”. It's about a 28-year-old fake heiress, who fooled everyone into thinking she was a multimillionaire. She presented herself as a German, went by the name of Anna Delvey, and for four years, lived for four years in luxurious hotels in Manhattan, dined in Michelin-starred restaurants, went to the glitziest parties while dressed in designer clothes. She tricked her New York socialite friends into paying for everything, coming up with cute excuses about a lost wallet or a declined credit card, and promising to pay them back one day. Delvey forged bank statements, and even claimed to be setting up an art foundation cum members club for which she needed hefty backing. The series follows a journalist who's investigating Anna's past, while she awaits trial. “Anna and the reporter form a dark, funny love-hate bond as our reporter fights the clock to answer the biggest question in NYC: who is Anna Delvey?” Netflix teases.
