On furlough, Yasmin sought out new opportunities and exhausted them. A ring light and tripod arrived from Amazon, and her 978 followers were served unctuous episodes of IGTV. They ranged from the class disparity that COVID has laid bare; why we shouldn't line Jeff Bezos' pockets (ahem); the stops-you-in-your-tracks messaging of the Black Lives Matter movement and the imagined reunions with friends. From these, she realised how "many thoughts she has" and the extent to which "they need an outlet." And so her Yazzmatazz podcast and newsletter were born. A play on razzmatazz, her - muddled - musings are indeed designed to attract and impress. So vindicated in her newfound offering, she's due on Monday, when her employment is reinstated and bank account remunerated, to tell her boss that she'll be leaving for influential pastures new of an, er, activist.
