Jason Wu has always been a beauty enthusiast, but had never dreamed of launching his own makeup line. It was after meeting NYX founder Toni Ko that the idea came to him. The line will mirror Wu’s creative vision in fashion in that it'll be ultra feminine, classic and timeless. He designed both Michelle Obama’s inauguration looks in 2009 and 2013, and he also counts Meghan Markle, Diane Kruger and Reese Witherspoon as fans. He wanted to ensure that everything was clean and cruelty-free, and that it'd be suitable for all ages and skin types. As not to exclude anyone, all products are under $25. Yes, he may not be the first high-end fashion designer to launch a beauty line, but he is the first to make it to the aisles of the supermarkets (the line will be available at 400 Target stores in the US).
The Jason Wu Beauty stable will comprise 25, multi-use products designed to perfect a natural look. For example, there's the Hot Fluff stick for cheeks, eyes and lips, the Opal Stick for an all-over glow highlighter, and a Brows Before Boys powder, that's good for both both filling in sparse brows and covering a graying hairline. Other highlights include Celestial Lust cream shadows, Free-Da Brow eyebrow mascaras with double-sided brushes, Extra Pout lip glosses, Good Night Mr. Wu nighttime lip mask. And best of all, Jason the Freckled Boy mini liquid liner for drawing faux freckles, like at Wu’s recent SS21 show.
