From the moon-adorned tiaras and the huge pearl clutch bag (fast becoming the iconic accessory of the collection) to the flashing lights on the soles of chic sandals – Chanel's Cruise collection presentation in Dubai last night was a sight to behold.

Chanel's beauty experts backstage included famed hairstylist Sam McKnight, and the team ensured that the hair and make-up remained in keeping with the event's olde-meets-new Arabia theme, making it all about the eyes in a very Middle Eastern way.

The goal was achieved with flecks of gold leaf and separated cat-flick liner that seemed almost Cleopatra-esque – and complexions were kept muted and flawless, bar a dusting of sun-kissed shimmer across cheekbones. Nude lips finished the face, whilst (sandstorm?) swept up-do's polished off the overall appearance.
