F inding something that helps my health and wellbeing is a real blessing, so I always love to share this experience with those around me in the hope that it has the same positive impact on their lives. When it comes to supplements, there are so many on the market claiming to improve your health, it can sometimes be overwhelming. However, each supplement is only effective if it suits your body type and DNA. Dr. Sean made sure I knew the difference between good supplements and bad ones and gave me a personalised plan of vitamins and minerals that was tailored to my needs and helped teach me the difference between supplements and how to make informed choices.

Look at your diet first.
Supplements are great but they are only effective if you are using them as part of a healthy, balanced diet. You should be getting most of your essential nutrients from whole foods, and only see supplements as an added bonus.
Always look for a supplement that is plant based and not synthetic.
It is always better to choose a more natural supplement, sticking with something your body can recognise and absorb. Stick with plant-based complexes that benefit your whole health and wellness instead of isolated compounds that may do more harm than good.
That's just one of the reasons why chelated minerals are better, as they're already in a form the human body can easily absorb - unlike typical minerals. Chelated minerals are already bound to an amino acid, which makes it much easier for your body to absorb and metabolise. The body can easily recognise and absorb plant-based complexes, whereas synthetic supplements are chemical isolates that are foreign to the body.
Research how to take your supplements.
Most supplements are best taken after food, with water or a healthy juice. I found it was best to stay away from tea or coffee, as these can affect how the supplement is absorbed. There are also some vitamins, such as Evening Primrose oil and Fish Oils that should be taken with foods as they contain healthy fats that can help the body to absorb minerals. The best thing is to check with your practitioner before you take anything, so you can make sure you're taking your supplements in the best way possible.
Just because you've heard that are supplements are healthy, doesn't mean they will benefit your body and DNA type. Each person is unique and you can only find out what supplements you should be taking when you understand more on what your body needs or is lacking. Without the help of Dr. Sean, my homeopathic practitioner, I would never have known what were the right supplements for my body. Nor would I have known how and when each one should be taken.
