Robert De Niro has just jetted into Doha ahead of Nobu's grand opening. The Asian restaurant, which opened in April 2015, is the largest of the 32 outlets worldwide, and it was celebrated with an official launch complete with a traditional ceremony last night. Guests played witness to breaking the lid of a large drum with wooden mallets — an Asian tradition. In addition, a five-piece taiko drumming group was flown in from Japan for the night, who were followed on the decks by DJ Soma.
The Nobu chain of restaurants is co-owned by the Hollywood actor who was joined by co-owner and acclaimed Japanese master chef Nobuyuki "Nobu" Matsuhisa. Famous around the globe, Nobu's must-try dish if dining at the acclaimed restaurant is the black cod steeped in sweet miso, then oven-baked to perfection.
The 26,000-square-foot Nobu Doha is located at the Four Seasons Hotel Doha and it's a hot ticket with tables booked out nearly every night.
