IWC has unveiled two new limited edition models in its Big Pilot's Watch range: the Big Pilot's Heritage Watch 55 and the Big Pilot's Heritage Watch 48. Inspired by the historic Big Pilot's Watch produced in 1940, the two models are certainly reviving the observer's watches from Schaffhausen.

The numbers at the end indicate the diametre of their individual cases and while the difference in size is obvious, there are other subtle differences that set them apart, particularly with regards to the mechanisms within. The only other exterior difference between the two is at the back where the 48 model has a visible power reserve display.

Despite that, the two models still most closely resemble the original '40s watch, from the dial design and colour of the luminescent numerals to the shape of the propeller-like hands, cone-shaped crown and historic leather straps.

Limited to 100 pieces worldwide, the Big Pilot's Heritage Watch 55 is priced at Dhs54,000 while the Big Pilot's Heritage Watch 48 is priced at Dhs49,000 and there will be 1,000 pieces worldwide. For more information, visit IWC Schaffhausen.
