On November 9, Christie's Geneva will be auctioning one of the rarest timepieces in the Patek Philippe collection ever: the Emperor 2497, a previously unknown 18k gold perpetual calendar wristwatch. The model line is already one of the most sought after but combine it with a historical background and its rarity is beyond impressive.
The Emperor 2497, which already features a never before seen military-style black dial with luminous Arabic numerals and luminous Alpha hands, was also a gift to Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie, presented during his visit to Switzerland in 1954.
The watch bears the Patek Philippe signature and has an engraved caseback. Not to mention everything about the timepiece is in its original condition, without any restoration work. The estimated auction price is set at Dhs1.9million-3.7million.
