'A fashion-forward parody', Stacey Caldwell and Aijiri A. Aki, together with illustrator Michelle Baron present Where's Karl? – fashion's answer to the popular kid's book, Where's Wally?
According to sources, the book follows a fictional blogger named Florence de la Sabine who chases Karl Lagerfeld around the world, and through 15 cities in one year – from the Chanel Haute Couture show in Paris, to the Met Gala in New York and Art Basel Miami Beach.
Co-author Stacey Caldwell came up with the idea for Where's Karl? because she used to play 'spot Karl Lagerfeld' with herself during her frequent trips to Paris. She was intrigued by Lagerfeld's fans more than anything: “They would act like they were the only ones lucky enough to spot him, and then two minutes later someone else would do the exact same thing,” she says.
Lagerfeld's fashionable circle also make an appearance in the new book, including supermodel Naomi Campbell and fellow designers Phoebe Philo and Riccardo Tisci. “That’s the real fun—you think you’re looking for Karl,” says Caldwell, “but you’re recognising all these fashion people along the way.”
