It would seem that New York Fashion Week could becoming a cosumer-based set-up as the the Council of Fashion Designers of America have officialy spoken out about their concerns for the future of one of the industry's key events.

American luxury designer and CFDA Chairman, Diane von Furstenburg expressed her thoughts on NYFW saying: "We have designers, retailers and everybody complaining about the shows. Something's not right anymore because of social media, people are confused. We have some ideas. Everyone seems to feel that the shows being consumer driven is a very good idea."

Each collection show, which is on the runway six months prior to its release date in stores, now seems redundant with the front row line-up shifting exclusively from buyers and top top editors, to bloggers, influencers and camera-clad consumers. 

The Boston Consulting Group is set to conduct a seven week study to figure out the future of the shows and a system that could possibly enable people to buy immediately off the runway. The issue will be looked into further in January 2016. Until then, watch this space.
