In one line, the only line she said, Chanel Iman summed up her reason for visiting the Middle East. "Happy birthday, Mall of the Emirates," said the supermodel, shortly after her holographic video came to an end yesterday.
The video itself, which was displayed on a larger-than-life sized screen in the middle of the mall, was designed to transport guests along a journey with Chanel: "To iconic eras gone by, through visuals, creative backdrops and clothing," said Hussain Moosa, Associate Director for Shopping Malls, Majid Al Futtaim Properties.
Marking the mall's 10th anniversary, flagship stores within Mall of the Emirates also took part in the video presentation, dressing Chanel in head to toe. From London dressed in Alexander McQueen, to Paris in Balenciaga, Milan in Fendi, New York in Oscar de la Renta and Dubai in Elie Saab, the American-born model told of the style evolutions these five cities have faced from 1930 (sans Dubai) right through to today's cosmopolitan culture.
The holographic video will be played again this weekend on October 14 at 3pm and 4pm and again on October 15 at 8.30pm and 9.30pm in the central galleria at Mall of the Emirates.
