The who's who of the art world descended on the Los Angeles-based Hammer Museum for the annual Gala in the Garden soirée recently. The sold out gala, which was supported by Bottega Veneta, was held in the gallery's starlit gardens — a backdrop worthy of the $US2.5 million the event raised for continuing the museum's exhibitions and free public programs.

Diane Keaton and artist Paul McCarthy were both honoured at the event, which was attended by Julia Roberts, Bottega Veneta's Creative Director Tomas Maier, Emma Stone, Matthew Barney, Salma Hayek, Elizabeth Banks, Patricia Arquette, Armie Hammer and Elizabeth Chambers, Marisa Tomei, Amanda Peet, Matt Bomer, Sarah Paulson, Selma Blair, Kiernan Shipka, Liz Goldwyn, Mia Maestro and Mona Kuhn.
