One Direction (1D) fans are some of the most dedicated on the planet, and today the hoards of supporters for the boy band, that got its start on X-Factor, will be reeling from the news that the four remaining members of the band plan to part ways in March 2016.

The teen pin-ups – Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan – are set to part company for at least a year to focus on solo projects. A 1D source told The Sun newspaper: "The guys have been together for five years, which is an incredible run for any boy band. They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects. There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100% behind the decision. It is definitely not a split and they fully intend to get back together at some time in the future."

The band vowed to stay together after the fifth member Zayn Malik, left the group earlier this year. Due to the separation, the band will not be touring their fifth studio album, and their scheduled October 31 concert in Sheffield, UK could be their final live date before disbanding.

Exactly what projects the boys each have their sights set on, for their 'year-out' is still under wraps but rumours are circulating that Liam and Niall might spend their time honing their song-writing skills, whilst Louis might work on some solo tracks and Harry is said to be pursuing some acting buzz. Stay tuned to Buro 24/7 Middle East for the latest on the boy's future projects.
