Nicole Kidman has just taken top honours at the 61st Evening Standard theatre awards at London's Old Vic theatre, following her first theatre performance in 17 years. Kidman was named Best Actress for her role as pioneering scientist Rosalind Franklin in the play, Photograph 51.
Wearing an Alexander McQueen dress with bold and intricate bird detailing Kidman had earlier said that she did not realise how much she was taking on when she signed up for the role and even admitted to having stage fright, "So to be standing here today is just extraordinary and I'm just so glad that I did it and I did it for my father," she said.
The night's other top honour was awarded to James McAvoy who was named Best Actor for his performance in The Ruling Class.
Other best dressed guests included Sienna Miller and Gemma Arterton.
