Take a sneak peek at the Spike Lee documentary on Michael Jackson, Journey from Motown to Off The Wall. The highly anticipated film looks at the formative years of Jackson's solo career as he leaves the Jackson 5 and attempts to strike out on his own.
Documenting the making of Off the Wall, the album which set the tone for his future musical sounds, also features the rise of the single, "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough", which earned Jackson his first Grammy. It simultaneously went on to become his first single to hit No.1 in the US and internationally.
The film features archived performance footage as well as interviews with contemporary music bigwigs from Pharrell Williams to The Weeknd. "I've always used Michael as, first and foremost, a vocal inspiration, and Off the Wall was definitely the one that made me feel like I could sing," says The Weeknd. "I found my falsetto because of Off the Wall."
Journey from Motown to Off The Wall will debut at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 2016.
