EVENT: Live Street Painting
WHERE: NYU Abu Dhabi, 12-7pm, December 7, 2015
Curated by Houda Lazrak, the Art Gallery at NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) brings together five UAE-based street artists to showcase the art of spray painting. Fathima (aka Fats), Gary Yong (aka Enforce1), Justin MacMahon (aka JustOne), Steffi Bow, and Sya One will all demonstrate their artistic skills as well as interact and share the creative process of street artists. Visitors to the event are also welcome to set their creativity free and try their hand at street painting. Entry is free.
EXHIBITION: The Vision — The Story of Glory
WHERE: Art Couture at Al Badia Golf Club, December 9, 2015 – January 9, 2016
As part of the nation's 44th birthday celebrations, the photography exhibition focuses on and highlights the UAE's achievements throughout the years, and shares an intimate story of how a desert space has turned into one of the world's most vibrant cities. The pieces displayed are a compilation from the collections and archives of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, The National Archive, Huawei, Union Properties, and Photographer Imad Alaeddin from the Al Bayaan newspaper. Entry is free.
OPENING: Lumas' Flagship Gallery
WHERE: The Dubai Mall, December 9, 2015
With its newest gallery located in The Dubai Mall, Lumas is looking to liberate art in the Middle East by opening it's collection to the public. That collection consists of more than 1,400 original works by over 160 emerging and established artists, and Lumas wants to change the way that people think about buying art in the region. Lumas currently have a gallery located at the Dubai International Financial Centre, however the new gallery hopes to attract more people to embrace the world of arts with its strategic location within the world's largest mall.
